“The Weather”
Cabinet of Curiosities: Pack I
The hillsides are all blackened
And my heart is crackin’
In two, but it’s not for you
This time
‘Cause my standards are higher
Even though I am bone-tired
I think that after all
It’ll be alright
I don’t mind
Being alone
Anywhere I lay my head
At night is home
Sure I still think on you
From time to time
But the rain is gone
And the weather’s fine
The western winds are blowing
And my bruises are all showing
In spite of all this makeup
On my skin
But I wear my scars proudly
And I sing my song loudly
Even if nobody’s listening
But the wind
I don’t mind
Feeling sad
It’s just part of building up a life
With your own two hands
Sure, I still think on you
From time to time
But the rain is gone
And the weather’s fine
The devil might come knockin’
But I won’t be locking my door
You know that he’s no match
For me
‘Cause I’ve lived through floods and thunder
And I’ve labored under
The weight of truth that was supposed to
Set me free
I don’t mind
Feeling sad
Sometimes everybody miss
What they almost had
Sure I still think what if
From time to time
But the pain is gone
And the weather’s fine
No I don’t mind
Being alone
Anywhere I lay my head
Tonight is home
Sure I still think on you
From time to time
But the rain is gone
And the weather’s fine
Lord, it’s fine
