ENGLISH: The #BalconyConcerts ended when the quarantine was lifted — but that doesn’t mean the concerts are over! On Saturday, May 30th at 8pm we will give a special concert in trio: Tori Sparks (hello!), the amazing El Rubio on guitar, and the master of all things percussive, Javi García on cajón.
The concert will be broadcast live on Facebook and Instagram as always. We can’t wait to see you!
One important note: This show has suggested minimum donation of $5.
Why a “minimum suggested donation” instead of a fixed price? Because we know that not everyone can afford much extra these days, and we want you to be there. If you feel like a live concert is worth more to you than $5, then feel free to give more, and we appreciate it very much. If you can only afford 5, then that’s OK, and thank you too. If you can’t afford 5 — we know that some people really can’t right now — do whatever you can. And thank you.

Why were the Balcony Concerts free and this one isn’t? The Balcony Concerts sprang from the idea to bring a little comfort to my neighbors in quarantine — people who were literally unable to leave their homes for weeks and weeks. I decided to broadcast them online as well, for free, to try to cheer up as many people as possible at once. Think of it as 10 weeks’ worth of benefit concerts. I was glad to do it.
Now that we’re all trying to slowly get back to normal, we need to find a way to move forward, which includes earning a living. If we can’t, we’ll have to find other jobs in order to eat — it’s just that simple. Most live concerts are cancelled until 2021, but rather than throw in the towel, we’re looking for a way to bring the music to as many people as possible (you guys!) while still earning something. Also, I respect my guys and won’t ask them to work for free.
All three of us make our living full-time from playing music, and just like any other show, we’ll have practiced, rehearsed, checked the sound — Javi and Rubio will have put on their high heels and make-up and everything — to make it the best show possible for you.
I feel like just one of Rubio’s or Javi’s solos is worth a million dollars, but what can I say… I’m a fan!

CASTELLANO: Los "Balcony Concerts” terminaron cuando se acabó la cuarentena, pero eso no significa que los conciertos hayan terminado! El sábado 30 de mayo a las 20:00, daremos un concierto especial a trío: Tori Sparks (hello!), el increíble El Rubio en la guitarra, y el maestro del ritmo, el Javi García en el cajón. El concierto se transmitirá en directo en Facebook e Instagram como siempre. Tenemos un montón de ganas de veros! (Y tengo muchas ganas de verles a ellos, cuanto tiempo!)
Una cosita importante: este concierto lleva un donación mínima sugerida de 5 euros.
¿Por qué una "donación mínima sugerida" en lugar de un precio fijo? Porque sabemos que no todos pueden permitirse gastar mucho en estos días, y queremos que estés allí. Si un concierto en directo te vale más que 5 euros, se puede dar más y muchas gracias. Si solo puedes pagar 5, está bien, y gracias también. Si no llegues a 5 — sabemos hay gente que de verdad no puede permitírselo — pues lo que puedas. Y gracias.

¿Por qué fueron gratis los Balcony Concerts y este no? Los conciertos desde mi balcón surgieron de la idea de aportar un poco de alegría a mis vecinos en cuarentena, que literalmente no pudieron salir de sus hogares durante semanas y semanas. Decidí transmitir los conciertos online también, gratis, para intentar animar a la mayor cantidad de personas posible. Piensa en ello como 10 semanas de conciertos benéficos. Estaba encantada de hacerlo.
Ahora que todos estamos tratando de volver poco a poco a la normalidad, toca encontrar la manera de seguir adelante, y eso incluye encontrar la manera de ganarse la vida. Es que si no podemos, tendremos que buscar otros trabajos para poder comer, es así de sencillo. La mayoría de los conciertos en directo se cancelaron hasta 2021 — pero en lugar de tirar la toalla, estamos buscando como llevar la música a toda la gente posible (vosotros!), y a la vez sobrevivir. Además, respeto a mis músicos y no les pediría que trabajen gratis.
Los tres nos ganamos la vida tocando,, y al igual que para cualquier otro show, habremos ensayado, preparado, probado el sonido — Javi y Rubio se habrán puesto sus tacones y su maquillaje y todo — para que sea el mejor espectáculo posible para ustedes.
Yo creo que solo un solo de Rubio o de Javi vale un millón de euros, pero qué puedo decir… soy fan!
